Caring for Your Necklace

Amber needs to be cared for and treasured like any valuable property. Because amber is soft and can be brittle because of age, it is important to be concerned about exposure to chemicals and oxidation. Your amber should not be stored with other jewelry where it can rub against other pieces, especially metals.
*To clean your amber, use a soft flannel cloth dampened with clean lukewarm water. You should dry your amber very carefully, lightly polish with clear olive oil occasionally, and then remove any excess oil and restore the polish with another soft cloth.

*Be sure to keep perfume or hairspray and similar chemicals away from your amber and never place your jewelry in commercial cleaning solutions. Because of the very sensitive nature of amber, you should also remove amber jewelry while you are cooking so that the amber is not exposed to excessive heat.

Remember to be careful when cleaning the amber. It is a very soft gemstone, and can be scratched easily.

*DO NOT BATHE CHILD WITH NECKLACE, Chemicals can ruin your necklace.*
